Picture Frames
Picture frames are the traditional way of displaying your
Halloween pictures year round. Some of the Halloween retailers that
pop up at this time of year are starting to carry picture frames on a
Halloween theme. Or, you can make your own from plain photo frames
and some inexpensive crafts supplies like we have done in past
years. Read the article about creating your own Halloween Picture Frames in
the
Halloween Crafts section at the
Halloween Online
Magazine.
Digital Photo
Frames
Digital Photo Frame are the latest way to display your
digital photos. They range in size from one's that will
fit on your keychain to large desktop and wall mountable versions.
You can find affordable, everyday digital frames at mass retailers
year round that run between $45.00 and $125.00. We tried out a few
different priced frames and found the frame costing around $70.00 to
have a clear picture, a slide show feature and a nice black frame.
It made a good every day digital frame. It has no USB port, you have
to use an SD memory card to load the pictures and it stays in the
frame so you may want a spare or two so you can still use your
digital camera.
Desktop and wall
mountable versions range from a few inches in size up to a whopping
fifteen inches. The better digital photo albums have a USB
connection for transferring your pictures from your computer to the
digital photo album. Some play
slideshows of your photos set to change every few seconds and even
include playing MP3 music in the background.
One of the better desktop models we
tried is
Fuji's "Slim 7-inch Widescreen LCD Digital Picture Frame". It has a
480 x 240 resolution and supports standard JPEG images, plus a
variety of video file formats. To move your pictures and video from
your computer you can use your USB port or a flash/memory card. It
even comes with a hand-held remote control and built-in clock and
calendar.
Keep in mind if using a digital frame that uses SD
memory, you'll need to have a spare SD memory card. These type
frames keep the card in while showing the photos. We found a two
pack of 1 gigabyte cards for around $15.00 at our local mass
superstore. You'll have to use your camera to put the pictures on
your computer and then move them to the SD card to be used in the
digital frame, assuming your computer has a slot for SD cards.
Any way you display your Halloween photos, keep them
out all year long with your family photos. It's a great way to keep
the Halloween spirit all year long!
